Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How does coaching work?

Life coaching greatly depends on your individual goals and the time it takes to reach these goals. At the start of coaching, we discuss your goals to understand the realistic time it will take to reach them and what type of support you may need. Then we define together the frequency and duration of sessions, based on your goals, schedule and budget.

2. Is life coaching the same as therapy?

No, life coaching is not the same as therapy. Life coach helps you reach specific goals, overcome challenges to help you live your best life, which involves supporting behavioral changes to get to these goals, such as establishing new habits, new routines, etc.  Life coach is like a good mentor and advisor, who inspires and motivates you, and provides unbiased, objective feedback. Life coaching is oriented towards the present and the future.

A therapist helps individuals to work on mental health barriers and illnesses to improve overall well-being (which requires a licensed clinician).

3. How long are the sessions and frequency?

  • Sessions are one hour in length. This length helps to better support you, provides structure and monitor progress. After the first session, based on the goals and support your require, we determine the session frequency.

  • For established clients (those I’ve been coaching for at least 2-3 months), I also offer additional support sessions that are 30 minutes in duration. These sessions are hyper-focused on the issue you need to address almost immediately.

  • Frequency is dependent upon each person’s needs. Some have weekly sessions, other prefer bi-weekly or even monthly.

4. Do you offer online or in-person sessions?

I offer online sessions. In-person sessions available only for those located in San Diego. For the in-person sessions, my clients greatly enjoy outdoor sessions where we do something active, especially if it supports their healthy lifestyle goals, or meet at a coffee shop, or even at a children’s playground for busy moms. My goal is to support you, and I’m flexible about locations.

5. What to expect from a coaching session?

As a coach, my primary purpose is to help you reach your goals and address any challenges you have. I will listen and ask you questions, I will help you see a different perspective, and provide you with an honest, unbiased feedback. I will not impose my lifestyle, habits or opinions on you. My goal is help you find your way to thrive in your current life stage.

6. What do you mean by “thrive”?

To thrive means to live the best life that you can in your current life stage; to have habits and routines that support your overall well-being, to have the tools and coping mechanisms to manage stress and life’s adversities, to have a balanced approach to life’s demands, and to have good support systems through community and friends. To thrive doesn’t mean to be in a perpetual state of happiness; rather it is a state of “contentment” with self, your lifestyle, your relationships (family, friends, community) and your work. Ultimately, each of us thrives differently and that’s why I want to help you find your way to thrive and live your best life.

7. Do you help women with an image make-over and personal style?

Yes. I believe that the image we project into the world impacts greatly how we are perceived and treated. I also believe the way you dress should be reflective of how you feel inside—it should put a smile on your face when look in the mirror, and not a feeling of “blah.”  If you want to advance in your career, a polished well-put together look will serve you well.

8. I want to succeed at work and with my colleagues, be more noticed for the job I do. Do you do career coaching?

Yes. This type of coaching will focus on developing specific set of skills that you may or may not possess yet. We can focus on professional development and I will teach you skills that are required to succeed in organizations. I can also recommend you additional resources that you can use outside of the coaching sessions.

9. I want to start exercising, but I’m so busy and don’t have the time. Do you know how to help me?

It’s a very common issue especially among women who have to balance work, family, kids, and other responsibilities.  The most important thing is you already have the desire, and as I coach, I can help you prioritize your time to fit it into your busy schedule and to make a habit. Exercise will give you much needed endorphins, will help you cope with stress better and have overall a better day.

10. I want to run train for a 5K/10K/ half-marathon, can you help me with a plan and nutrition?

Yes, I can help you build a plan that fits your lifestyle and teach you about how to fuel for the race. As a coach, we will meet online to check in on your progress to ensure you are adhering to the schedule, and adjust it as needed. The most difficult part of signing up for these types of events is the commitment and discipline it takes to get there. That’s why as a coach I will motivate, encourage you and support you in reaching your goal.
